NOTE: This blog is open to the public and is not limited to the alumni. In fact, I have intentionally send the actives (and others) a link hoping it will help in the effort.

The comments of undergrads and alumni alike are welcome and encouraged.

It's Been A While

Gentleman...Brothers...

It has been a while since the group as a whole has heard from any of the actives.

Over the past few days, I've heard from the actives quite a bit. The prompting of the call, of course, was money.

Our Active Chapter--of 14 initiates and 3 associates--has once again worked themselves into a fairly substantial (for their size) debt. As of today they owe our National Headquarters $3679.79. Add to that, in April there will also be an insurance bill of at least $3500.00.

The current Treasurer, Homer Lester (yes, that's his real name) and I have talked a number of times about the debt and how they got where they are. There are a number of issues (read excuses) and they are what we have heard before. The bulk of this amount is from Mid-Year, but there is also National Dues in that total. I have also been in conversations with the Finance Director at Nationals.

Additionally, there has been a serious automobile accident involving three (of the 14) brothers, that taken all three of them out of college for the time and one still in the hospital in Winston-Salem. Besides the obvious of three fewer bodies to shoulder the debt, our brothers are also taking a active role in helping to raise funds to assist the families. The mother and father of the hospitalized brother, Jon Cassell, are staying at a hotel near the hospital to be with him.

Off to the right are two different donation buttons. The upper one is the button to use to assist with the debt. The lower one is to help with the costs for Brother Cassell's family.

Please take a moment as make a gift to one or both of these funds.

NOTE: When you click on the donation page, you will see the merchant as Group Promotions. I am running these donations through one of my business accounts and will let me CPA figure it out. My company will also cover any paypal costs so your designated choice will get the full value of your gift.
